Hallmark Construction congratulates Xilinx® on
obtaining
LEED® Silver Certification for
Building 5
Hallmark Construction and Xilinx® have partnered together for over 18 years on many construction projects. It
was through this shared experience that Hallmark was able to effectively respond to
their need to deliver new corporate headquarters in San Jose. Approximately
600,000 sq. ft. in five existing buildings were renovated.
Hallmark Construction’s LEED® accredited staff worked diligently with the Xilinx® facilities staff to obtain a Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for
Building 5. LEED® elements to obtain a Silver rating included light pollution reduction,
landscape and exterior design to reduce heat islands and roof surfaces, water use
reduction, optimizing energy performance and ozone protection. An Indoor Air Quality
Plan was also followed during construction and before occupancy. Low VOC emitting
materials were utilized including adhesive, sealants, carpet, composite wood and
Green Seal approved paints.
In addition, Hallmark diverted 75% of the construction waste from the landfill while
10% of the total cost of the materials were salvaged and had an achieved combined
recycled content value of 12.6%. Hallmark is proud to be the General Contractor on a team
dedicated to building sustainable, energy efficient buildings. |
